So it's a $5rebuy post break and you're sitting on a good stack on the CO. You and villain both have 20,000 chips and blinds are 400/800.

Seat 1: Villain ($20,000 in chips)
Seat 3: Hero ($20,000 in chips)
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Hero [:Ad :Ks]
Fold
Fold
Fold
MP: Call $800.00
Villain: Raise (NF) $1,600.00
Fold
Hero: Raise (NF) $6,800.00
Villain: Raise (NF) $12,000.00

Now what do you do? Or what would you of done differently?

i think i would fold tbh, 50 50 at best i think. but with the amount of chips in there is a good case for calling.
maybe just a pot size bet after the raise

6,800 was the pot bet. Quite a big raise I know

hmm then i think i would just grudgingly fold, if you had 2-1 chips on him or something then deffo a call. think this is a case of mucking and cursing

Definitely muckable. Just very painful to lose over 7bbs with AK without even seeing a flop! Anyone else have any input on what they would've done?

depends on how he's been playing? AK is a hand that against an aggressive player i can't get away from, but as G said, it's probably going to be a 50/50, and i don't like gambling.

Didn't really see how this guy was playing tbh. Don't think I spent many hands with him.

Say this was the 1st hand you played against him. Better safe than sorry?

The only thing I might have done different is a smaller raise, perhaps just another $1,600 or $3,200 tops...that way it makes it easier to fold if he comes back with a huge bet.

Without knowing the player you have to think with that kind of pre-flop raise he has AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AK, AQ, AJ or possibly any other pocket pair. Best you have is most probably 40% so I would wait for a better spot to get all my money in.

That said, once you make the large raise you are fairly pot committed with such a strong starting hand.

Let us know what you did, I think you called and he had 10, 10 and you lost. to trips after scoring both an A and a K on the flop.

I think you pretty much have to shove there. No point calling and folding when you miss as you have lost half your stack without seeing their cards. Could fold if they are pretty tight but you are probably >40% against their range and the pot is ~14k before the raise

shove there, i think a smaller raise would give you a easyer decision

You mean 3-bet shove? Or 5-bet shove?

5 bet shove i recon just cause of equity in pot

yea id shove. granted AKos isnt that great of a hand, but you still have the possibility of getting him to fold.

right after the break is when you want a big chip up, because you know people are going to start playing tight.

then again im a gambler....so who knows.

no way he is folding after putting in 60% of his chips

if hes got a hand like 33, then yea he could try to represent a stronger hand and eventually give up if he thinks hes beat.

If he had a pocket pair he'd have to get it in purely because he could be flipping and getting really good odds.

Anyway to end the debate, I 5-bet shoved and he thought for a while and called with AJ. Surprisingly I shipped his stack and ended up busting out first on the FT.

AJ does seem massively overrated by most players. Most of the time when you get all-in you have 3 outs and are pretty lucky if you're flipping
