What happens if you steal a chip or two from the chip leader if hes sitting right next to you? do they know the exact amount they have? Would it even help?

I think this is very possible and very illegal. I don't recommend taking any chips from any poker dealer. They have cams and a lot of guards watching you, plus there are other players around you that might catch you on the act. This could turn out to be way more expensive than you think.

Its pretty hard, unless you have two friends sitting at the table, signaling to each other with secret signals. Your closely watched though and you get in real trouble if you get caught.
