Is this board texture too dodge to bet check betting? I figure with his limp call preflop that he could have a small-ish pocket pair (he MAY have flopped a set of 4s) What do you think?

my rule of thumb is never to check-raise-bluff on a board with a flush or clear straight draw.
then the person will snap call, and though you still may have the best hand, you will have no idea where u are in the hand.

I dont think he min-raises with a draw here. He's got you beat for sure, whether it be KJo (fishy) or a set of 4s. He never has 99 and obv not KK.

For me these situations are really opponent centric. If you're chucking all your non big hands here I can simply min-check raise every cbet you make and you won't be happy. There's a good number of opponents I call the min-raise then there's some that I will not. Also helps to know exactly what is behind as the implied stack.

It was 2 hand of the tourney (i think) so had no info on villian and we both started the hand with about 1500

OPR & sharkscope him before you even put in the cbet. After checking these numbers I'd dump the hand if I had already cbet. This guy doesn't look like he minds going broke early and probably overvalues certain hands that I can't necessarily make fold if say a club hits? heh.

Easily has a set or just some ****ty K tbh. This flop texture is a lot worse than Jxx. K9x suited isn't too bad a flop. C-bet everytihng mate.
As for your line and depending on your stack I'd flat call the miniraise. The flop is either really strong or really weak. If you check behind and he checks UTG he probably has an FD or a low pair in which case u can check behind and u gave yourself odds on the flop to see turn and river. If you're short and need the chips then muck the flop.

I disagree with most comments above. As this is early in the tournament everyone is trying to get information. The guy is unlikely to limp call with any genuine hand early on, suited connectors are his best bet. The check on the flop suggests he want to see the turn for free, when u bet he realises calling puts him likely to b on flush draw in ur eyes, so he will min raise to represent some strength.
Remember bets are not wat they appear to be. It would help to know the stakes your playing in order to assess the ability of your opponents.
Generally with 1500 stack id ask him a question with a raise to 620... its a 1.5 times his raise which will ask him question and scare most draws away. Im guessing from a 1500 stack tourny ur prob playing a 2$ or 5$ tourny with guarantee prizepool, so hoenstly chances r this guy has flush draw and will call all in with it. due to this my play would be to flat call his bet, if no club comes on turn put a bet in, but see his action first. He will proably bet without a club but will be a 160 bet so easy call.
Either way I need to know your tourny fee....players enterd and payout numbers
