Finally, an online tournament series acronym which makes a real word, unlike FTOPS or WCOOP!
The Spring Championship Of Online Poker takes place April 2-12, a series of 66 tourneys (in 22 events) for all levels. They're divided into high, medium and low stakes with the same structure for each.
Example: Event 8: NL Hold'em 2-day tournament.
High: $3150, $3M guaranteed
Medium: $320, $1.5M guaranteed
Low: $33, $250k guaranteed.

Some of the structures have just been released, and it's super-slow. Loads of chips with FTP-style structure and 15-min levels. It looks like a really good idea, gives those of us playing lower a chance to take part in a proper series.
All kicks off April 2nd with Event 1, NLH $500+R, $50+R or $5+R.

I'm probably going to direct buy in some of these, try and sat to others.

$3150 has a 3 million guarantee but the $320 has a 1.5m guarantee?

seems like the 320 has much better overhead. wtf?\

nice post btw. thanks for the headsup. +1 rep in DA HOUSE

Presumably the smaller tournaments will have much larger fields. It's easy for Stars to cover a $1.5M guarantee for the Sunday Million, but not so easy to get 5000+ people registering for a $3k online tournament.

no i was saying that its pretty absurd to offer a 1.5m guarantee on a 320 buyin, when they are offering a 3m guarantee on a 3100 buyin.

seems like the guaranteed prize pool should be somewhat reflective of the buyin.

This sounds absolutely amazing. 2 day event for a $5rebuy? Or am I getting that wrong?

@Rockart, GRTD prize pools are simply made to get loads of runners in a tournament. They want to get the max runners for each tournament they play to get maximum rake (and rigback). Obviously if they guarantee too much then they'll end up losing money so they have someone sitting back and working out how much to ship into the tournament.

Obviously they feel like they can get ~5000 members for the $320 and around 1000 runners for the $3150 game. Obviously it'll probably go way over that for both but it just means they get more raaake! If they guarantee too much for a tournament with low demand ($3150 game) then they risk losing a ton of money. It's all about profit maximising for them.

I think the first event is a single-day one. The 2-day events are Event 8 as mentioned above and the main event ($100, $1,000 or $10,000 entry), which starts with 10k chips and blinds 25/50.
http://www.pokerstars.com/scoop gives all the details. Loads of mixed game and different variant stuff there. My tourneys to enter:
Event 1: $5 NLH + rebuys
Event 2: $11 PLO8
Event 5: $16 NLH Shootout
Event 6: $22 PLO (may try to sat in)
Event 7: $109 HORSE (only if I sat in)
Event 8: 2-day $33 NLH
Event 11: $33 Mixed HE
Event 13: $22 Razz (depends how degen I'm feeling)
Event 15: $44 8-game (will try to sat in here, would love to play this one)
Event 17: $22 NLH (1R+1A)
Event 19: $55 PLO (sat in)
Event 22: $109 Main event NLH (sat in)

I've decided I'm going to do my damn best to satellite to the $320 2 day event. Maybe I'll save up a couple of weeks and direct buyin. I have no idea why sites haven't done incredibly deep stacked tournaments at low stakes before tbh. There's definitely a hell of a lot of demand for it! Well done PokerStars... Again.

The $30/$300/$3k tournament structure is just out, and it's exactly the same as the main event...10k starting stack, blinds starting at 25/50. After 3 hours, blinds are 250/500 so it's a super-slow structure!

Decided to have a go at sateliting into some of the SCOOP events. first attempt at the $2.20+R satelite for the $50+5 1st event and shipped it whoop whoop. I recommend people give it a go, nice slow structure for a satelite and absolute donks playing. see ya on the 2nd of april.

108 runners took about 3 1/2 hours tho. nearly bubbled it, i was chip lead with 14 left, got to 12 left called some guys all in for about half my stack with QQ he turned over AK and turn a straight on my flopped set. i was the shorty with just 1 to go and luckily some guy got all in with 2nd pair against someone's top pair.

Good luck in the scoop. I was going to wait a bit before trying to satellite but I guess I might as well now. Will probably try and go for the $320 and $530 events. Direct buyins ftw.

I'll play some, try to sat into some others. Have played 3 $6 Razz qualifiers to their $22 tourney so far. I've won two of them so have 44 W$ to use. Easy sat to win! May use that to play the $44 8-Game tourney...

Unlucky Chris, I hate it when people 'hero' call you and suck out. You going to be playing any more?

ccottis

Yeah will play the Razz and possibly the 22 1rebuy's (PLO and NLHE)
Might try and qualify to the 8-game and $55 PLO ones.
Wasn't too worried about that beat as I needed to sleep by then and with 12000 people left it could've been late and unprofitable. Was impressed that the $50k guaranteed became $350k!

Still tempted by the two day event. Day one is ~12 hours including breaks and starts at 9.30pm. But still tempting.

Largest field was in the Guinness world record week. Something ridiculous like 50,000 runners @ 11$ buyin.

Might play the £33 one but will probably try to qualify for the low main event instead as after 2-days I don't want to cash for $50!

Playing the $33 one as well now. Will be gutted if I don't make it to day 2 of either of the events tonight... Obviously more gutted if I blow up on the $320 :s

Good luck to everyone who's playing tonight!
