btw as ive learnt the hard way from overplaying FD's, sit down and think exactly how badly you played this? i dont like the all in at all, hes re raised you, whas he laying down here/calling what ur beating.

this is fairly standard stuff btw, altho pretty bad by him.

Am I the only one who thinks this is fine? Even against KQ or 78hh, he's still 50/50.

Play is fine. What do you suggest fairy? Flatting then check-folding?

Not really a bad beat though!

check calling flop solves alot of problems here.

if you think 50/50 is a good idea then why dont we advocate nick calling his AK in the other thread, his equity is prolly about 50% against villains range imo. The only way you stack the villain playing it the check call way on the flop is if he has a hand like a set, pair and fd, or two pair and top pair top kicker at a push, so in my opinion theres little point of shoving this fol coz the only hand thas calling you is a hand thas fave alot of the time, you are looking at 33% equity on this board alot of the time.

+1 to it being fine, NFD don't do too well when you slowplay them

Edit: Nicks AK wasn't going to be a 50/50 by my reckoning he had about 40% equity with barely anything invested.

We've already commited 1/5 of our stack by the time he raises flop. It's fine to get it in with a 50/50 here.

Here's a fairly narrow range which doesnt include other FDs, lower SDs or random bluffs (It is after all only a min-raise), which I personally think should be in his range.:

Board: 9h Kh 8s
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 48.405% 48.40% 00.00% 25398 0.00 { AhQh }
Hand 1: 51.595% 51.60% 00.00% 27072 0.00 { 99-88, KJs+, QhJh, JTs, 98s, 8h7h, KJo+, JTo, 98o }

Check/calling is the worst option IMO. What happens when the turn blanks? We fold after commiting 40% of our original stack?

but he wudnt raise to 2k if we checked and not bet? coz we inflated the pot, and if you get your money in on flips through a torny youd be lucky to double up twice. This is why i hate tornaments, no play is actually right because your hand is not iscolated, it is one of many many small battles.

Yeah this is a great flop to c-bet. If we check then TT-JJ, and maybe underpairs are going to think they are good not to mention we give the opportunity for AJ/AT to run a bluff by showing real weakness on the flop. Also by the line we take we show extreme strength by repping AA/KK/AK and should get a decent player to fold KQ/KJ/QQ-TT etc.

Check-calling is just way too passive, we are out of position and will struggle to pick up the pot without hitting on the turn.
