Not a lot you could have done. Your cbet on the flop was solid enough, and once you hit the A on the turn you had to think you were ahead, except to a very slowplayed monster hand which wasn't the case here.
You were just unlucky to run into an idiot calling station who likes to flat twice with little pockets and three overcards. Perhaps the only thing could have been acknowledging you were behind to two pair/set on the river when he raised all in and gave it up then.

Check ship on the river almost certainly has you beat. At the end of the day, the guy with 55 played this hand very badly and was lucky he got a bet from you on the river (otherwise he would've made the absolute minimum from you). Personally I think you have to value the river after he checks down. I want to put him on a hand like KT/QT/JT and he'll probably pay you on a bet.
When he ships it I think you have to make a disciplined fold. It's horrible he made it after playing so terribly. |

I suppose he was set mining and yea, I defo should have laid down my hand after he check shoved me, but I can assure you that it was a tough choice, I tanked until there were literally 2 secs left!
Yup...I guess this is what tilt does to me! lol...the plan was to play tight, take down a huge pot and then stop playing cash, unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Luckily after a reload, I minimised my loss to something that my bankroll could afford! I thought he could have been drawing because of the way he was flat calling me in position, which was good when the river missed a club. But also, I thought that he could of possibly have a 10 or a weaker ace such as AJ/AQ maybe. One step at a time...lol.

Story of my life mate. I have such a hard time fold AK on an A high board sometimes. I kid myself into trying to think he has AQ or AJ and call. In reality, he almost never has AQ/AJ after the line he took and the check ship on the river. I find myself making terrible calls because I just try and justify putting them on a hand that my single pair has beat.

Yeah, so sick when a value bet just get turns into 'i can only beat a bluff'
Just got to lay it down and move on, sucksss. Personally I probs check behind on the turn trying to play pot control as he could very easily have flopped a set or have A3/A6/AT. Not really a drawy board so you have to wonder what he is check calling with, as it turns out he made a bad bad call and caught a dirty dirty 2 outer on you.
