Another Question about Ethics
This Playing-the-Player forum doesn't get enough love.
Where do you guys stand on saying what you have while you're still in the hand? I did this at an APL tourney, I said "I have Big Slick" a few times, and kept betting, and opp kept calling with TT when a K was onboard. Big slick won! She was so pisssed, she said next time I say what cards I have they go in the muck. I never heard of that. In fact I distinctly remember a bunch of stories (mostly from SuperSystem books) about exactly this kind of psych play. I stopped doing it anyway, since it was perceived as rude there. At cash games with Molinero, this stuff was all part of the fun. |

I think different casinos have different rulings on this; the woman who had the 10's had no authority telling you not to do it again.
But again, different casinos have different rules on stuff like that. |

It depends on the casino or house. In some places, they don't allow you to talk actually. In most places though, they let you. Its all part of the psychological game. In serious games, I usually don't say anything.

As a player, I don't mind when another player talks about his hand. Any kind of read I can get will help me. Like bob said, I would never say anything during play unless it was a friendly home game and I thought I could persuade a call. I wouldn't wanna look like Jamie Gold, haha. But if I were to host a tournament, I would have no rule against talking about your hand while your cards are live.
