Bluffing

I read somewhere that it's almost never worth it to bluff during a low stakes game, because people who might back down if the stakes were higher don't mind risking a small amount of money if they have a decent--but not great--hand.

How do you feel about bluffing? When is it most effective?

I think that one of the basic and fundamental concepts of poker is bluffing. Whatever the amount of money may be, if you dont have the habit of bluffing in poker, then you can't become a successful poker!

Bluffing should always be random, meaning, you shouldn't do it all of the time. Remember, if you're stuck looking for one last card that can save you on the river and you end up bluffing, that will cost you in the end. You should always fold before bluffing.

Bluffing depends on how much are you willing to lose and how bad you want to win that hand. Sometimes it works very nicely but sometimes it could be a total disaster. I've have more bad experiences than good ones while bluffing. Be random, don't do it all the time and if you do it try to be confident about it. Don't hesitate, make a serious face!

I can't bluff to save my life. I don't think I do anything wrong really, just that I always lose the bluff. Maybe it's because I always play low stakes lol

Frankly when I play poker, im the shy guy that looks like he cant do anything, first few hands I go out and dont do much, then when I get a good hand (Or even a bad one) I go all in, depending on the stakes, and ussually everyone thinks I have something amazing (Only once has it not worked, but the stakes were low)

This is not true. I play alot of low stakes and people fold all the time to bluffs of 50 cents. Most people at any table(except play money) will fold to a large raise, regardless of the stakes.

Think of the situation in your opponent's point of view. What would you want someone to look like if they just realised they got a GREAT hand. Thats what my aproach is, and it seems to work most of the time.
