continuation bets, worth it?
normally with my luck i never hit flops and most of the time i lead out pre flop. Say i had K-Q and raised it up 3x big blind and the flop came A-9-3 would a continuation bet be worth it here? normally 1-2 people would call so im guessing at least 1 person has an A. So would i just be throwing money away?
I know it would be good to get in a habit to do continuation bets just because they don't always have you beat but most of the time they do. so do you all do continuation bets as much as you should? |

I have tried that and have had only minor success. Play around with it first then give it a try.

Works for me. I have gotten some good money out of it.

What strategy are you using? Also, do you mind sharing?

It can go both ways, as you never know what they have

if you plan on c-betting you only want 1 or 2 ppl in the pot against you. no more. Continuation bets work more often than not. You also have to look at the texture of the flop. If there are suited or connecting cards out there it could be dangerous. Pre flop raising is meant to thin out the field and if there are 3 or more to the flop dont try c-bets

The only time I would suggest continuation betting, is when I'm card dead, meaning nothing is going my way.
Like freak said, this usually works with 1 or 2 players in the pot, but depending on the texture of the flop, you could steal a pot from many players if you strongly believe nobody has anything. |

Quite agree. Continuation bets are an essential part of the game and should be used, however, there's no point in doing it in multi person pots.
Also, if you are finding that lots of people are calling your preflop raises, tighten up and play more premium hands and ditch the average hands.

It depends if anyone else is raising. I do them sometimes if I think no one has hit big yet. If someone has a middle pair and you do a continuation bet, it might be enough to force them out.

I think that it will work, sometimes. In your discription up there, I think that yes you could do it but it may not work, its a game of luck.
