fold to a $300 reraise????????????
im at a local casino last night playing $2-$5.
i sat around 9pm and by 12 or so i had $500. my table image was tight, with the exception of one hand - where i had a showdown holding ![]() for a $200 pot (pair of 7s). overall the table was very loose. people were calling absolutely absurd amount of money preflop with marginal hands. now the guy immediately to my left was there when i arrived. he had around $300 when i sat and pretty much stayed within that range the whole time. i saw him make some donkey calls BUT the point was, he was always calling. the two (2) times i saw him raise a pot he had the nuts. i pretty much had him pegged as a beginner. so im sitting dry for a while when i get ![]() in MP. the guy under the gun makes it $15 and there is one call before it gets to me. i repop to $50 and this guy to my left SNAP calls. this, of course, leads to the cascade effect, and by the time we went to the flop there was $250 in the middle. the flop comes ![]() ![]() the first two players check to me and i measure out a bet of $105. the guy to my left, at this point, quickly (almost excitedly) grabs all his chips and pushes them into the middle. the bet is now $390 - so $285 for me to call. the rest of the table folds around to me...... had i called and lost, i would have $130 dollars left. had i called and won, i would have close to a grand.

basically i have him on one of three hands here, but more likely one of two. either AK, AQ or AJ.
after a good 10 minutes of thinking, i decided he has AJ and fold.

I think with AK you can't ever get a better flop. It's hard to say that you're ahead though even though I think AQ/AK are much more likely hands. He might even have JJ. I think if I'm bankrolled for NL500 which I'm certainly not, then I'd stack off on this flop to a check raise. If he flips AJ I sigh and reload. Wld be nice to be rolled for NL500.

I don't think your table image is very important with regards to this problem. I don't have a complete answer but here are my thoughts:
-I agree with you that AJ is probably the most likely hand he holds. -If this is one of those casinos in Florida where you can only reload to $100 at any given table I probably fold. Otherwise, if can reload to at least $500, I'm calling and probably fairly quickly. -I would never take ten minutes to consider a decision at a live table the game is already slow enough. There's no point to slow down the table this much. -In order to consider folding this hand if I can rebuy to $500 I would want to know a lot more about my opponent tendencies. We haven't really outlined what his 3bet calling range is preflop. Just because he only went all in with the nuts when he raised before doesn't mean he has the nuts or close to now. Especially when you're talking about a guy who looks happy and is insta-pushing. His reaction is not given the other times he put it all in. The SPR is just too low to fold in most cases. -It's a raise not a check raise because he called right behind ROCKART's middle position 3bet. Although I don't think this matters much. |

Bizkit you are an utter moron, first of all don't critisize someone for taking too long to make a decision. It is their money, and therefore they have their time to make the decision. I don't tell you how to spend your money, so you shouldn't tell me (or anyone else) how quickly to call off my (their) money.
Good fold ROCK, the guy for sure had AJ, JJ or 66. AT WORST he had AK also. Did he ever flip his hand? |

i figured the only hand he would have that he would make that move with THAT I HAVE BEAT is AQ. and the fact that he pushed so suddenly made me think he either had AK or AJ. either way it wasnt worth risking that much to find out.
and yes bizkit the entire state of florida has 100 cap on all NL games - until june 1st. yesterday the florida house and senate, after two years of deliberation, came to an agreement allowing 200 max on 1-2, 500 max on 2-5 and 1000 max on 5-10 with a 25-50 game that also has 1000 max. thank god

Sweet, I can play in Florida this summer if I visit my relatives down there. That 100 cap had to be the worst rule I've seen in a long time. |

I'm pretty sure you're the only one doing the bashing here but feel free to re-read the thread and correct me if I'm wrong. I provided my analysis on the hand which will frequently show you ways you can improve your play and/or your overall equity. I'm not going to apologize for that if you can't take a little constructive criticism or constructive criticism of your friend. I've never called for the clock in my poker life which consists of probably well over 50,000 live poker hands. But, when a "regular" takes over 3 minutes at a table that appears to be this good it's just very bad for the game or mainly all the good players in the game.
