PLease dont hate me for starting this thread!

ok, basically wanted to share something with you all and see what your responses are and whether you have had an experience similar. So, i play on stars and recently have being playing a lot and only breaking even, which has wound me up, i felt that i may start to tilt onto higher
stakes entries to try make some quick cash and this is not what i wanted to do.(btw i play 3$ sngs atm). So i withdraw all my roll and leave myself just $40 in the account so i can continue grinding at the 3$ sngs. I play a for a long time again and am losing (i am aware people have commented on when you withdraw you go on a downswing). Im getting 2,,4 outered far too much.

So i get to the point where i have 17$ left, and i tilt. I am so wound up at all the hours ive wasted and playing poker, making nothing for the last week or so. So i take 16$ and enter a 9man sng 15plus1 turbo. If i lose this there is no money left in my account, and obviously with that means if i lose there is a chance ill stop playing and theyll get no more rake from me. But that doesn't happen, i run like a god and win the tornament for 70$ and it wasn't fair at all, i ran like a god. my ak beat kk and then i won all my flips which musta bin 4 or 5.

I accept this could be very lucky but this is the second time its happened, about 6 months ago when i was playing 10 dolar stakes at stars the same thing happened, i was on a downswing and withdrew all my roll leaving bout 50$. I moved down stakes and got down to bout 20$. I played one of the 16$ turbos exactly the same as this time and exactly the same result, i won it. As i remember i ran so well then aswell.

I dont think poker is fixed, i just find it very strange this has happened 2 out of 2 times and i can see the logic behind it if it were to be fixed. They make sure theres always money in people accounts and they get maximum rake because maximum players are using their site.

I really don't know what to think, before tonight i had complete faith in poker, now i jus have that little bit of doubt. Obviously i will repeat this tomorow and withdraw 50$ leaving 16 and play a 16$ sng again and see what happens.

But in the meantime i would love to hear if this has happened to anyone else, and just generally what everyones thoughts on this are.....

Firstly dude, the players in a $3 game play completely different to people in a $16 game.

Secondly, I think you are looking at the 2 incidents whilst keeping the 'rigging' topics at the back of your mind, hence why you've even begun thinking of the posibility.

I also had a good run when I started with $20 in my account. Since then, I've been using good bankroll management techniques and playing well. I've actually built it up to around $600 and never encountered the same problems as you. Surely this means that stars are not maximising their rake from me?

If you feel that you are losing alot, then maybe there are leaks in your game. That is one of the main points of this poker forum. For people to let steam off their chest when they take badbeats, but also to seek advice on the way that they played hands, but NOT to blame it on online poker being rigged! (Despite the name of the forum, lol)

yer i mean thats what i was like, i built up to around 800 dollar within a week of opening my stars account, i originally put in 100. Tbh, without being big headed i don't really think there are any leaks in my game. I used to play ipoker and played there for like 2 years nearly and my profit was very steady, but i find on pokerstars it is a lot swingier for me than ipoker by a long wy. This could just be down to the sort of people that play on ipoker and people that play on pokerstars though. more opinions please from the 'rigged side' and the 'non rigged' parties. would love to hear rockarts take!

this exact scenario, as well as several others, happened to me OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER throughout the 4 years i played online poker seriously. this is a piece of the equation that finally led to me to conclude that every single account is profiled and adjusted to suit the player.

i am glad you have the objectivity to at least recognize that something could be fixed.

Damn straight. Craig, maybe your biggest leak is not thinking you have any leaks...

If this works, I'm going home tonight and putting my entire stars roll on a single SNG. Ship it one time!

To me this is a fairly sizeable leak. There's so many different areas of poker everyone can improve upon its very hard to be playing absolute perfect poker. I like to think of it as a complex table or matrix of ideas, concepts, theories, plays & evaluation that's almost hard to even explain. When you start thinking along the lines you can't do anything better, your mind will find ways and data to support it. You also limit your ability to expand your knowledge base.

Let's take a small leak example:
$40 bankroll is just not enough for you to be adequately rolled at $3 sng's. Even if you were playing 1 table sit n go's and you were a fairly decent winning player for the game. Your risk of ruin probably still exceeds 10%. These of course are just estimations, but they are best case scenario ones. So you may think dropping $23 playing well is highly unlikely but it's only about 7-8 BI's. You're probably going to be facing a scenario like this 1/5th time. It doesn't take too many days for this to happen.

The thing is I think they'd make more money if you didn't win.
If you win.... you have that $70 which you play with, which is money over people don't have... but they probably still have money on their account.
If you lose, everyone else has money on their account, plus that $70 still so the same money is still on pokerstars... and then you redeposit at some point (we're addicted, you definitely would redeposit) so then its the same money as before + your new deposit.

$3 games and $16 games are completely different, so that could help to explain it. Maybe you're too good to play the $3 games, which is quite possible! You might overthink things, when they're just playing ABC poker.

Also, we all have leaks in our game. Whatever level you play at, whoever you are... we all have leaks. Maybe you should deposit like $1000 and play the $16 sit n gos if you feel you're better at them!

If there is this system about withdrawing in place, can we not use this to our advantage now we know how they're rigging it? Maybe we could all withdraw half of our rolls after we lose a bit, then put the other half in the most expensive sit and go we can afford, which we will then win. Everybody's a winner now we know how their system works!
