Pocket Pairs
I keep pushing with pocket pairs and running into over pockets even when there are only a few people to act and it's really bugging me!
What are the odds that someone else has a pocket pair higher? Then maybe i could work out what position and what pocket i should be shoving with. (Perhaps say pocket 2s for anywhere UTG+4 and above, and pocket Ts you can shove UTG). |

It's 1/111 that you'll hit AA. If you have pocket jacks then there's 3 over pockets which means there is a 3/111 chance that the person next to you has any over pocket. If you are UTG on a 9 man table then there are 8 people to act, so if you have JJ then there is 8x3/111 chance that someone has QQ,KK,AA. So you're getting 24/111.
If you have pocket 2s UTG then there are 12 over pockets meaning 12/111 that someone has an over pocket next to you and 96/111 that someone on the table has at least pocket 3s. (but if you're shoving there are a lot of people who will fold a lot of small pockets). I think this is right, please have a good mathmatician check, cus i'm not sure if that's how the odds work. |

you beat me too it
, depending on your stack size you will get peopleto fold 10's minus mayb jacks and queens if your deep but if your unlucky enough to run into a overpocket you have a 1 in 5 chance of hitting your set

Yeah, i was assuming we were talking about shoving with 10bbs or so with ny pocket and the odds of coming across something greater. I think i'm going to try and work out a chart for what position and what pockets to push with if you are 10 bbs assuming that pocket 8s + are calling your shove.

Just read something. It's 220/1 not 110/1 that you get AA.
