Poker Lingo Glossary

Poker Glossary - Post in this thread and your terms will be added.

Keep adding posts to this thread and i will update. That way we'll have a gigantic glossary of terms!

BB - Big Blind

CO - Cut Off. The position to the right of the dealer.

Cold Deck - When the board gives players big hands that are hard to get away from, usually resulting in all the chips being put in the middle.

Cooler - When you get your second nuts beaten by the nuts i.e KK vs AA.

Crap Shoot - When the blind structure is so poor that the average stack is 10 BBs or less and it's a push fold "lotto" situation.

Donk - Somone who sucks at poker.

Donkament - A tournament full of "Donks".

EP - Early Position.

Fish - Someone who is a bad bad player and who likes to call big raises with bad hands hoping to hit the board.

Floating - When you call your opponents flop bet with intention to bluff the turn.

Fold Equity - The power you have over your opponent to make them fold their hand. A large fold equity is good because you can get players off hands that beat yours.

Lotto - Refers to lottery, is a synonym to luck.

LP - Late Position.

MP - Mid Position.

The Nuts - The best possible hand with the cards on the board.

OOP - Out of position.

SB - Small Blind

Scared Money - When you are playing out of your bankroll and cannot afford to lose your money which in turn makes you play super tight and make incorrect decisions.

SHIP IT - When you win a big pot you would exclaim to your opponent and dealer to "ship" your money. Can also refer to pushing all your chips into the pot.

Sick Fade - When your opponent flops a tun on outs like a straight flush draw and misses.

Squeeze Play - When a raise is called and then a shove (or very strong reraise) is made to make their hand look stronger than it is. Usually done with low-mid pockets to take down large pots.

Stone Cold Nuts - When you flop a hand that cannot be beaten even when the river and turn come.

Suck Out - When someone draws out on you.

UTG - Under the Gun.
