Winning player... How long did it take you?
Now i know everyone that plays poker thinks they are a winning player but realistically how long did it take you to become a winning player if you are indeed one? I say it took me around 1-2yr mark of playing before i feel like i really knew what i was doing. But i know some people who learnt what i learnt in like a few months

I wouldn't really say i am a winning player. I have played enough to have a fairly indepth knowledge of the game but as i play MTTs i am still waiting for that one big win to put me in a lot of profit.
For now i get by with the small cashes that i make and in the last year have gone into fairly small profit 5% ROI or there abouts. I have been close to the big cash several times but at the final stages you really need your luck to hold up and so far it hasnt. |

I couldn't really say. Lots and lots of play i guess. Learn a lot from friends as well if they know the game better than you. I'd say the best way to learn is from playing people you know who are experienced and can give you tips on each hand you play.

I was winning with friends and family about 2 weeks after I began playing. It took me about a month to get to the point where I was constantly profitable at casinos. Of course, I dove into books and stuff when I started getting into it, too
