If you're thinking of playing an MMO
Read this article first. A really interesting glimpse into one of the most realistic economic and social worlds that functions outside of reality. Some guy spent thousands of US dollars so that he could build an army. I got to this article after reading how someone died playing Starcraft for 50 hours back in 05. Anyone played these games?

don't have time to read it now, but you must have heard about that oriental girl who died after playing WoW straight for days. her online friends had an online funeral for her which then got attacked by other players.
"this could be the end of the world.... of warcraft"

Rofl, I didn't think there were Griefers on WoW. That's super standard for any online game.

wow just read of of this. This is amazing, he spent 100gs on a game! Cutting power lines to kill other players ships. People really do get lost in the game!
