UoLtom is not known around here
Its not as virulent a virus as bird flu was, if bird flu had mutated so that it could pass from human to human it would have been a massive problem, much more so than swine flu is now.

Ive had quite a lot of friends who have had it, and they've said its bad. But I presume its made worse by having to be in isolation for like 3-5 days!
Its only dangerous if you have underlying health problems. People certainly shouldn't be panicking!

i know several people who've had, i've even slept next to one of them (in a platonic sense) and lived to tell the tale. also had a patient at the hospital who was displaying the early symptoms, nothing too bad though.

Of which 749 999 self diagnosed themselves and sent someone to collect their tamiflu. The figures are about as accurate as Genesis.

My ma and pa had swine flu, literally couldn't get out of bed for a couple of days, then were back on their feet. It just destroys you like flu does.

House had to be quarantined though, no-one allowed in, and I wasn't supposed to go out for 24 hours to see whether I showed symptoms :\

They're both fine though. In my opinion big media hype.

That 4/750,000 figure (assuming thats correct) is at best an under estimate, think about the number of people who dont bother calling NHS direct, dont go to the doctor or report it.

The danger of swine flu is closely correlated to the number of tabloids you read.

Read this blog if you want decent, sourced, info about swine flu: http://scienceblogs.com/effectmeasure/. Best Ive come across.
