Top 5 Biggest Movie Letdowns:
Inspired by the Top 5 movies thread it made me think about the biggest letdowns. Here are mine(in no particular order):
Matrix Revolutions - So what might have been salvageable after the Matrix Reloaded really turns into disaster here. They choose to take the easy/boring way out answering questions like how Neo is able to move and manipulate **** outside of the matrix. A lot of the pieces of it didn't really make much sense or was just retarded. Throw in "I made a sunset for Neo" at the end of you have a movie worthy of being the biggest letdown ever. Godfather III - The first two movies were just amazing best picture winning/deserving flicks. The third one was just awful. We get to see some thug running around like an idiot while Michael tries to explain to him what he should be doing. In the end he pretty much gets screwed and the only good part of the entire movie was the quote "Just went I thought I was out they pull me back in". Star Wars(I-III) - How can one triology be so well written and this one I could hire a 4 year old and they'd probably do a better job. Add in Jar Jar Binks and "star" cast that has to deliver the cheesiest lines possible and you have a pretty bad series of movies. I wasn't even that impressed with a large portion of the fight sequences. 300 - Overrated trash mixed with medicore obviously fake poorly made CGI fighting sequences. I don't understand how anybody actually enjoyed watching this. Napoleon Dynamite - So for this one I was with a couple people at home. And we actually watched the entire thing all the way through with "WTF" looks on our face waiting for there to be a scene that was actually funny. As the credits rolled we didn't ever get to that point but at least the awful thing was over & we didn't pay a dime for it. |

I preferred Revolutions over Reloaded, although I do agree that took the easy way out by leaving a bilge load of questions. ITV showed them all over three weeks in the UK, and I still prefer Revolutions. The Zion stuff in Reloaded is painful, almost as painful as the sex scene.
On Wednesday night we watched Godfather pt. II and got talking about the third one. We agreed that it's not an awful film, it's actually alright, it's just so inferior to the first two it hurts. I think that my biggest let down is Shaun of the Dead, purely because I was a huge Spaced fan, so the thought of all those guys in a film was hella exciting. Went on opening day, and after the first five minutes stopped laughing when I realised pretty much all of the funny stuff was in the trailer, and the film itself was pretty bland. Cue lots of flak in my direction. Will have to think about an actual top 5.

300 is intense, how can you not like it?! what more can you ask for than violence, violence and more violence. though the oracles are pretty freaky.
totally aggree with you on N Dynamite. I just didnt think any bit of it was funny at all, stoppped watching before i wasted too much of my life.

I agree with you on the Matrix Sequels.
But I really loved 300 - a hugely enjoyable film I thought! Napoleon Dynamite just happened to be one of those endlessly quotable films within my group of friends. It's a strange film which certainly splits people. In regards to Star Wars Prequels - Ep. I definitely had some of the best lightsaber fights in it, Darth Maul ftw. Ep. II had one of my favourite scenes - where a ****-ton of Jedi come down and fight it out in the colliseum. Ep. III had some badass bits, such as Order 66. But overall, thinking about the Original Trilogy, and comparing it to the prequels... Just hurts. Very badtimes. Definitely a let-down. Now what about the latest Indiana Jones film?! I'll make a top 5 soon! |

Godfather III is pants and that is as good as fact. Where my opinion differs on Godfather II which I didn't like, I liked the story behind the young Vito, but I found the other story a bit weak in comparison to the first. Godfather I kicks ass.
Napoleon Dynamite I thought was good but I would hardly go out my way to watch it. With the matrix sequels I thought that the brothers left a lot unanswered so we the fanboys could make our own interpretations. |
