    high stakes 08

Almost two weeks have passed in a new year as of 2009 and action on the high stakes online cash tables chilled down a little. December looked like it was a race to become the best earning player of 2008 on Full Tilt Poker, of which the $500/$1000 Rail Heaven (introduced in 2008) took a large part of.

With the introduction of these high stakes tables, we've seen a massive amount of records being broken on these tables, and Rail Heaven was without a doubt true to its name. With about 60 hands being pots of $400,000 or more, the amounts won and lost online were enormous.

These are the results of 2008 on Full Tilt Poker, both No-Limit Hold'em, Pot Limit Omaha, Omaha H/L Fixed Limit and HORSE Fixed Limit, with blinds from $50/$100 up to $500/$1000:

Phil Ivey 95248 hands +$7,54 million
    OMGClayAiken 153907 hands +$6,97 million
    durrrr 223044 hands +$5,36 million
    Urindanger 168801 hands +$3,68 million
    trex313 143818 hands +$3,45 million
David Benyamine 241499 hands +$2,93 million
    howisitfeellike 46387 hands +$2,66 million
    CHUFTY 138715 hands +$2,36 million
    La Key U 77149 hands +$2,14 million
Patrik Antonius 102293 hands +$1,90 million

As you can see, Phil Ivey takes the crown for being the most profitable cash game player online. While playing a relatively small amounts of hands, he made over 7.5 million dollars! That should give him enough money when he'll play Tom "durrr" Dwan heads-up. He's also one of the most consistent winners, he has profit in all 4 variants and is actually the biggest winner in HORSE.

Second on the list is the only player excluded from durrr's challenge, Phil Galfond, aka OMGClayAiken. He earned close to 4 million dollar during the last 2 months, netting him just under 7 million dollar for 2008! His Hold'em has improved a lot and he's one of the major benefactors from the $500/$1000 NL Hold'em tables. He's actually lost money on NLHE in 2007 but is 2nd biggest winner there 2008.

Third spot belongs to Tom "Durrrr" Dwan, who earned $5,360,000 million. His december month was really one of the best we've ever seen. He earned 2.8 million dollar on Hold'em in just 7562 hands! That made him the biggest earning in NLHE of 2008.

Other players in the top 10 include David Benyamine, who won close to 10 million in PLO and NLHE together, but lost most of it in Fixed Limit Omaha Hi/Lo and HORSE, 2 games he'd better avoid in 2009. Patrik Antonius closes the top 10 list with a nice $1,900,000 profit.

So, who's paying for all that? Well, most of you already suspect it: Guy Laliberte must be the most beloved player to be found at high stakes tables.

    lady marmelade $-6.632.177,45
    patatino $-4.328.466
    elmariachimacho $-4.161.883
    Bleachbum $-1.097.457
    MR B 2 U SON $-1.055.557
    luvtheWNBA $-1.041.669
    SteveSung $-1.010.158
    Gus Hansen $-1.001.448
    PostflopAction $-999.256
    noataima $-990.652

Guy Laliberté is said to be owning more than one account, Lady marmelade, patatino, elmariachimacho and noataima are said to be ran by Guy. If that is true, this billionaire donated around $16,000,000 online to other high stakes players!

Also worth mentioning is MR B 2 U SON. He is said to be David Benyamine, after he quit Team Full Tilt. He's losing close over 1 million since he switched nicknames.

We end our review of 2008 with Gus Hansen, another player that doesn't know how to stick to his game? He cruses the Omaha H/L Fixed Limit and is up over 4.5 million, but loses it all at all other games, and is even down a million for 2008. It is for Gus to hope there's enough action at his favorite game, or 2009 might become a very bad year for the Dane.

Nice post. 95k hands is absolutely nothing in a year of online poker. That is an incredible profit from Ivey there. Guy is such a fool, that's incredible if he owns 4 accounts all of which are in the top 10 for losses. So bad. I remember thinkin he was crap on HSP.

Infact I thought this was a thread about HSP. I hope they get the top 10 earners down for a game.

kinda comon knowledge he doenst own elmaria, as theyve played at the same table, but he owns lady marmalade for sure, and is very likely to won the other two.

ivey is mega, simple as the best poker player out of his competitiors.

common terry heres one for you... when david benyamene was a red pro, he was making a killing, over 10 million in hold em and PLO, (lost alot at HORSE and PL8) and when he revoked his full tilt pro status and played as mr_b_2u, hes down a cool million....

Yeah if you have that much money it doesn't make that much difference does it. And if you are enjoying it who cares?
