hi, thought id be polite and introduce myself

Hi, my name is craig, im from brighton, england. Your forum has kept me occupied at work for sometime now, so thought maybe it was time I should sign up! Im 20, currently working part time (considering whether to go uni!). I play poker pretty much most days, even if it is only for half hour, an hour sometimes. Used to play up to 50 dollar sngs at ipoker but as of late, went on a downswing and have gradually moved down the stakes and am now playing 3dollar or 6 dollar tables on stars. I know its very low stakes, but i find i can grind out a nice hourly rate playing these and the swings are nothing in comparison to what i have experienced before. I previously invested a lot of my time playing jackpot sit n gos at ipoker (the 5 dollar ones) im sure your all aware, win 5 n u get at least 15k, but in the end decided it was for mugs because the chance of ever winning it is so slim and the rake is too big to mean you can grind out a decent profit. However i came agonisingly close once, getting 1 1 1 1 2. Sickened me! lol. Um, so yer pretty loyal to pokerstars nowadays, I know i need to learn to play better at cash tables as I reckon the profits are higher but for now im happy grinding out the profit on sngs.
Um my poker past aint too interesting really, lol, play live occassionally in brighton, but never more than 50 pound buy in and only play tournaments, not cash. Biggest poker cash to date must have been in the 3 dolar rebuy on ipoker, won 1600 dollars i think. Had a few other cashes for around 1k at ipoker,. Used to be an mtt grinder but you can go so long without a big cash, I hate swings! lol. Also time investment was horrendous.
Suppose thats all for now, look forward to speaking to you all x

Welcome to the forum mate. I am a fellow sng grinder on stars. Generally play $11 27 manners and $13 6 max 18 manners. May run into you at some point! Not playing at the moment though. MTTs are a good way to turn profit and you will run deep one time! Keep the faith!
Still cant beleive bridge thought it was a sit and go. freak of medic nature.

ello bridgey. Yer ive played a few of those mini mtts (27, 45 seater). well i say a few, quite a lot. Do you play freely or are u strict with icm? I just found that on the 27 or 45 seaters and even the 90 man and 180 man, that when you are playing at above 5dollar entry, so many people play by icm, and its like playing against robots a lot of the time. They have their calling ranges and their push ranges, and obviously know how to relate it to stack size and blind levels, and i found that in the long run that i couldn't turn a profit because they were getting the better of me because obviously the math they play by is near enough perfect. But i mean i never really studied icm much, n i know it takes a lot of studying to be able to know what to do in every situation that you could possibly be in. But i mean, yer maybe if i did study it i could turn profit but who knows lol. Wot sort of roi do u manage if u dont mind me asking?

I think I'd quit poker for life. How brutal. I did try playing them at iPoker but the rake was far too high for it to be profitable unless you won the jackpot at some stage.

Yeah I don't use ICM, just tend to try and pick decent spots, I think after playing so many that I have solid play around the bubble and although it's not going to be as http://pokerisrigged.com/newreply.ph...wreply&p=22728 good as ICM I think it works fine. The thing with ICM is that it does not take into account any particular player info, so you could be correct in shoving by an ICM calculation but if you know the guy is going to stack off with a larger than/smaller than normal range then it could change your decision.

To be honest I think that something like ICM would take a lot of the fun out of the game! Also i don't think I could be bothered to learn everything/buy a program. If you want some soft competition then the 6 max tourneys have a very very poor standard of people. I generally play on the tight side so therefore you would think my play would not be good for 6 max (i mean obviously I adjust my play slightly) but the other players tend to be so bad that my ROI for those tourneys is much better than the full ring tourneys.

My avg. ROI is variable for the different tourneys but in total its 26%.
    - For 6 max ($6/$13) its about 45-50%
    - For full ring ($5.50/$11) its about 25%
    - For 180 manners ($4) its -50%!! (should really stop playing them!)
You can check my blog, theres some sharkscope pictures on there.

    gl!

Welcome to the forum Craig! My name's Rich and I'm a Stars player as well, mainly SNGs since I'm a bit of a cash donk at the moment! Not quite sure why...I haven't had a big MTT cash for a while either, probably because I get really bored...

Hope you have a great time posting here. A lot of us here know each other from our Uni poker society, so there's always good banter. Jump straight into it and we'll make you feel at home!

lol yer the 11112 was so sick. You start with 1000 chips on these torurnaments and when i got heads up on that fifth table I was stacked at a 3:1 ratio to my opponent, this is what makes it even dirtier lol.Blinds were big so was shoving often, he won a flip to get us back to level stacks, and then what does he do, wins another flip to knock me out in 2nd! Its horrible thinking back knowing if id have just won one of those flips i win the jackpot, the odds were so in my favour to win one of them! Impressive stats bridgey, I also keep it pretty tight n generally just get all in with the better hands, then yu can garuntee profit in the long run. Cool, where do all you guys go to uni then? im at ma mates uni actually atm, cos i got sum time off work, im up in lancaster! Long way from home! lol

Those beats don't come dirty, especially when you're balancing your winnings on a knife edge, how disgusting. There's a few people from Uni of Leicester here along with myself. You're missing out if you don't go to uni. At least experience being a fresher and give up after a year Kinda what I did but ended up deciding to go into Economics and finishing a full degree.
