That seems like a reasonable idea, but also seems far too complicated to be of much use to anyone who doesn't play/think poker all-day everyday! The problem I always have with using ranges in this way is that you can never assign someone a simple range as there are always several hands that are partially in someone's range. For example if I have AJ UTG full ring I will usually fold but sometimes raise so AJ is something like 20% in my range. If the flop then comes down A high I will sometimes bet out with whatever PP I may have but also sometimes check so getting an accurate range is impossible even if I try to do it for myself!
I do like his point that you should take into account the number of possible combinations,
e.g. if you think someones line is overpair or set on a Ten high board there are 4 overpairs, each with 6 combinations (if you don't have any overcards) and 3 possible sets each with only 3 combinations giving 24 overpairs and only 9 sets meaning you should be fairly confident that 2pair is ahead

I think the general concept is worth noting, obviously ranges are conceptual rather than cast-iron, like you'd include bluffs in with certain hand ranges for balance which just couldn't be accounted for etc etc.
I agree that the maths behind it might be a bit much for someone who has $11.64 in their account and plays once every now 'n' then on a 2$ 180 or something

Interesting article, thanks Litellio. I don't think i play high enough stakes yet for this to be super relevant though!

Oh yea, I read this article, didn't he play in High Stakes Poker?
-
Yeah he was in the 2nd / 3rd series. Can't remember which?
It's quite a clever idea I think, what did you think of it?
