    PKR Review

    PKR

PKR makes a bold claim in that they are going to provide a poker experience like you have never seen before. With the three dimensional graphics and the ability of the player to control every last detail of his poker player’s appearance, PKR meets and exceeds the expectations set in their bold claim. The graphics that the PKR poker room software provides are second to none. While the traffic at PKR is nothing to write home about, the competition at the lower stakes games is weak enough to make PKR a worthwhile stop for a micro-stakes poker player who does not multi-table intensely.

    Software Quality and Graphics

PKR is very different from almost every other poker room out there. Instead of having the traditional and simple table layouts that you are used to playing at. PKR gives you a fully 3-D poker gaming experience, which is more of a video game than it is a poker room. While it is pretty cool, the PKR software has some extremely heavy resource requirements that are going to ask a lot of your computer. The graphics are fantastic, too fantastic in my opinion.

The PKR software is not designed for its efficiency and getting the table to the player in as easy and intuitive a way as possible. Instead, the poker tables at PKR are designed to be a graphical and auditory experience. You get to customize just about everything about your avatar and the look. PKR really is more a video game than a traditional poker room except that it gives you the chance to win real money. You are not going to be multi-tabling with PKR but players looking to play at PKR are usually here for the experience than grinding out as many hands as possible. While the software is resource intensive, it is strong and has very few complications.

    Bonuses and Promotions

The first time deposit bonus is probably the greatest thing about PKR. They give you a 100% first time deposit match up to $800, which is among the largest deposit bonuses we have found. Additionally, players at PKR have the opportunity to play poker (or PKR) on live television. PKR broadcasts select cash games and PKR tournaments on PKR TV. PKR TV is shown on television stations such as SKY TV, as well as CNBC Europe. Additionally, PKR players can compete for a top prize of $25K in PKR’s $100K Masters, which guarantees a prize pool of one hundred grand - guaranteed. Satellites are available starting at $.60 and direct buy-in for the PKR Masters Guaranteed tournament is $250. The Masters takes place every second Saturday.

    Poker Games

It is really hard to compare the games to other games that you encounter at other poker sites because PKR is so dissimilar to everything else you are going to find out there. Because PKR targets a relatively niche group, the player base is small but not painfully so. The biggest problem with the games is that they are slow. You are not going to be grinding out 80 or 90 hands an hour at the table, it just will not happen. This dissuades serious grinders from taking up residence at PKR, as multi-tabling is quite difficult here.

It can sometimes be frustrating to find a game above the micro stakes level at PKR. They do not have any high stakes games yet but it is hard to imagine serious high stakes play taking place in this sort of scenario. With stakes ranging from $.02/$.04 to $10/$20, it does cover what the majority of players are looking for, but the upper end of the stakes are not well populated and rarely hold games that last for any length of time. Thus, the average player is a hobby level poker player and does not multi-table. Additionally, they are looking to pass time and enjoy the online poker gaming experience, which makes PKR quite ripe for the picking. Overall, the competition at PKR is really weak because all of the players who are actually looking to make money playing poker are off at other sites where the hands come more quickly.

The Verdict: PKR is Not Rigged

PKR is an interesting alternative to regular poker. While PKR may not be the ideal site for the more serious multi-tabling online poker player, PKR is a great place for a single table player to take down a nice and consistent profit from micro stakes games. The PKR games are enjoyable as it is a completely different pace and has a much more realistic feel. All poker games on the PKR software are licensed and regulated by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, which means they oversee the games to ensure that the poker games at PKR are not rigged.

It's a great site if you want an abnormally large win-rate. And to go with it, it's easy on the eyes. Only problem is not being able to load up more than 4 tables, but usually that's more than enough!

Another thing I like about PKR is that, like a live game, you cannot see your cards unless you click the option to make your player look at their cards. Through this simple feature, you can get more tells. Also, unlike that of stars, it tells you your percentage of winning a hand in an all in situation! Additionally, they offer a few different games which you will not find on other sites, such as a bounty, which is quite cool.

And for anyone else as who likes the occasional childish banter, you can spam the chat button to make your player keep saying the same thing. I personally enjoy spaming the 'loser' button when someone annoys me.
