Playing online as a job

Forget about hand histories and stats for a minute. this is just for discussion. for those that play online for a living, what particular games do you play? is it just ring game 4-8 tabling all day long or is there a proven method to most efficiently make a profit. I mean of course the skill has to be there, but is there a way that maximizes your profit potential while limiting the risk? I'm guessing ring games has to be your base play, something you will do every day. but do you guys mix in some sit n go's or multis? and how often? what buy ins do you look for? this is just for someone who's making like 50k a year. nothing insane like hundreds of thousands. just enough to get by comfortably. thanks for any input

I've never heard of anyone getting a lot of profit for playing online seing as it's just a game there for those who want to have some fun. If there are people making big profits from gambling and playing I would like to know how they do it seing as I more often loose money then gain.

I don't know anyone who makes a living online, other than the sick players at Fulltilt, but I'm guessing the most profitable way to go would be multi-tabling cash tables.

I personally have a bad experience multi-tabling 4 tables or more so i would just stick to one cash table and maybe play a tournament on another table.

I don't know if anyone makes a living from playing pocker online, is it actually possible. I mean of course you could make 50K a year or more but maybe these people lose that same amount or more during the year.
This is a very risky business that I would not have to guts to try...hehe.

I know of someone who won the lottery and now he spends his life and money on horse racing... but that's a different story.

Its very possible to make a living with cash games, i use to do it. i would make 4-5k a month playing online but one month i just took a huge hit and basically i had to move out of my house that i was paying for and sell my car because i went on a major tilt. i don't know if im ready to come back and try it again, or at least im i know not to expect the money to come everymonth

I do have a friend who plays Texas Hold'em tournaments online and he makes between 800-5000 a month. It isn't just one site but several so yes...you can make your living gambling online if youre good enough!

You can make a living but its really risky. To make any decent amount, you have to be good and play at least semi-high stakes. You have to make enough to take a hit some months because some of it is luck.

If you plan on doing this for a living, atleast get a good education. If you start this, loose alot of money, dont have a job, and no education, then your done. So atleast have a back up plan IF you do this, but I wouldnt anyways.

I do not see how one could possibly make enough through online poker to live off of. Also would you declare that for taxes? If not then you would be screwed later on in life.
