Some people are idiots...
I was watching a documentary on a streaming site by this guy called Louis Theroux. He's the epitomy of a British stereotype and has quite a funny style of interviewing people throughout his documentary. Check out this hilarious clip lol
To my point: I was watching one of his series about gambling in Las Vegas. The people he intereviewed were so deluded! I understood that some of them had serious gambling problems and it was quite interesting to see how they were in denile. One guy was just putting 100 dollar bills into 3 slot machines at a time while talking to Louis and not even looking at what was happening. But anyways, Louis went gambling with these 2 lawyers who actually believed they were good at BlackJack and could beat the system. They did know a lot about BlackJack but some of their views were incredibly irrationaly. One of the guys who said he knew when to bet big and when to leave etc was up till 7am spending over $5,000 on BlackJack. Felt sorry for the guy but he did reckon he could beat the system. |

A friend of a friend is this Bi-Polar alcoholic gambler.....
He went on some crazy bi-polar episode a couple of years back, sold his car for 10k, and went to AC to play blackjack. In three nights he was up 350k - the casinos comped him all kinds of ****, trips to vegas, free food and rooms, etc. He ended up taking that money and buying a house in Vegas to be a professional gambler. He was broke inside of 6 months. A year later he was homeless and a patient at a mental hospital... TRUE STORY

Holy crap. Thats a pretty wild 6 months and to call yourself a "professional" gambler is just rediculous. I forgot to mention that the guys in the documentary thought they were professional gamblers as well. They just looked so lost when they were losing money and then afterwards they would laugh about it and not say exactly how much they had lost.
In that film, Louis Theroux talks to this old lady who plays slot machines all day long. She's a millionaire but clearly doesn't have much money anymore. She lost $3,000,000 just on slots in 7 years. Her son was there as well and Louis asked him what he thought about his mum spending all his inheritance. Then she'd snap and answer the question for him and he'd just stay quiet. Id be furious if $3,000,000 of my inheritance was spent on a SLOT MACHINE!?! |

Lol @ the vid. He has no balls just to say I dont want to do it anymore and walk away. He said "sorry" when he shouted at him to do something lol.
But yeah, "professional gambler" is the dumbest two words in the English language. Fact. Anyone who thinks they can beat something that is stastically impossible is an idiot of the Nth degree. |

Louis Theroux is quite strange but he has done some pretty interesting and funny programs.
I saw that won about the lady and the slot machines. It's just depressing. He also spoke to the casino's about their responsibility because they encourage it by free hotel rooms etc as said above, but ultimately it's the individual's choice. The casino's just make it as easy as possible to relieve you of your money. |

All in all it's totally unethical. It makes it far too easy for insane people to give sane people money. You have to be medically insane if you think you will win in the long run on slot machines, blackjack, or anything else.
