Alot of poker players no adays also gamble on sports and prop bets... Now are these pro poker players degenerates that are just good at poker or would you class them differently from your average addicted joe blogs?

personally i think the main thing that distinguishes them is that a top class poker player will enter most situations with plus EV compared to your average gambler who will not take this into account.

I myself try to do this but somtimes emotions cloud my judgement as it does with everyone :P

agreed.

being able to set a limit for losses and then stick to it no matter what.

then again, the very fact you even set a limit means you know you cant control it....so i guess its easy to argue both sides.

about me specifically, i dont gamble in any other way than in poker. no blackjack, no routlette, no craps, no sports bets, no stupid prop bets, etc.

i think that qualifies me as free from addiction....yay? or nay?

Yeah ROCKART I think you aren't addicted to gambling in the pure sense of the word. Don't go to casinos and play the BlackJack or anything because it is so easy to get addicted and carried away even if it's short-term.

You can still be addicted to gambling in poker though. I know some people who just can't stop playing internet poker.

I play a lot of poker, I've been on holiday for a week just now and not once did I get annoyed I wasn't playing. There was even a casino on holiday that I didn't go to.

I admitt, when I'm at home I play A LOT of poker on the internet and in that sense I'm quite addicted, because it's something I will do when I'm bored or on my own. I would say I have some sort of low level of addiction, because even when my student loan is running VERY LOW, I still manage to put that extra 20 bucks into my account and play.

I don't have an addictive personality anyway. Can smoke drink and play poker. Poker is probably the most addictive in my eyes. Wouldn't know about coke
